CTF applauds on-line Ministerial expense claims

Author: Scott Hennig 2007/02/28
EDMONTON: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) is applauding news that the Alberta government will be releasing Ministerial office expenses on-line starting in April 2007.

"It's welcome news that Ministers and their staff's expenses will now be going on-line," said CTF-Alberta director Scott Hennig. "The Stelmach government has rightfully identified the government's lack of transparency as a problem, and is obviously starting to take steps to rectify it."

"This should have happened a long time ago," said Hennig. "That said, this is nonetheless a win for taxpayers."

On February 14, 2007, the CTF sent Hon. Lloyd Snelgrove a letter commending the government for putting flight records on-line, and recommended they next put Ministerial and senior government staff expenses on-line as well.
